The Holidays

Matt collecting firewood on Christmas. He said he was not cold!

Walking in a winter wonderland.
We do not have a microwave, so Matt tried to make popcorn on the stove...oops!
Best Birthday ever!

We had a lot of fun in our photo shoot for the Donahoo family Christmas card.
The Fall was beautiful out here! This is a view of Chesterfield from Logan.

The last few weeks have been nice and busy for the two of us! Matt just finished up his first trimester at Logan, and he passed all of his classes! It has been nice to see him again now that he is on his break. I found a few different jobs that have been keeping me busy. First, I have been working seasonally at a lotion store that sales stuff for the bath and body (I am not permitted to post the name of the store online...). I also work at the elementary school around the corner in the before and after school program. My third and favorite job is working as a personal assistant to a very special young lady. We hang out together in the evenings, and she keeps me on my toes.
So, other than finally finding some work, here is what has been going on with us!
We had our first Thanksgiving away from family and in St. Louis. We were able to go a dinner hosted by Logan's President Goodman. We ate a restaurant with several other students, and we managed to find the only table for two! President Goodman's wife called us the romantic couple. It was fun to eat together and talk about all that we are thankful for and looking forward to. The food was also amazing!
The next big event was my birthday. Matt had finals that day, so he set me up with plenty to do. First, I went to a yoga class. I have never really done yoga before, so I found this to be difficult. The class was conducted in a room set at 105 degrees. I have gone a few times since, and now I can touch my toes! After the yoga, I went for a manicure. Then, I went for an hour long massage. I met up with Matt at school, and his study buddies sang to me. In the evening we went to a Blues Hockey game with some friends. We ended the night with a delicious slice of cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory. I am so happy that Matt loves to celebrate my birth to such full lengths!

Finally, we had our first Christmas in Missouri. I have to say that this was one of my favorite Christmases ever. On Christmas Eve, we were invited to dinner with a family in the ward. They had like five other families with them. The company was so nice, and so was the food. After eating, the children performed a nativity show, and we all sang Christmas carols. When we got home, Matt made our first real fire place fire. That was big doings! On Christmas morning, we woke up, opened gifts, and just did nothing all day. We went on a little walk outside to enjoy the beautiful snow. In the evening, we went to our friend's place for dinner and games.
We missed seeing our family and friends from home, and we send our love to all!

Me + Grandma + Foot Surgery= PILLOWS!

Have you ever bought a new couch that just needed a little more personality? That is what happened to us when we bought ours! Don't get me wrong, we got rid of the ugly brown couch, and we now have a red couch, the color alone gives it personality. Here was the solution to my problem: Grandma! The timing was perfect, and the fabric was on sale. My Grandma just had surgery on her foot, so she needed some help around the house. I just moved to St. Louis and did not have a job. (Do you see where I am going with this?) It was so much fun to make these pillows with my precious Grandma. She is an amazing woman with amazing talents. I was so lucky to be able to stay with her for a few weeks...and I guess I came home with more personality then I had before!

Our Fairy Tale!

So, as my first official blog, here is my version of our story!
Matt and I first met in January of 2007, just after he returned from his mission in Brazil. I was introduced to him in the Tayler building at BYU-I. (Room 120 just for those who are wondering). He was my new home teacher, and he was a great one!
Our first date was Mexican food and go-carts. Soon after, I was invited over to his apartment to watch the Super Bowl (Bears vs someone). He eventually initiated t
he DTR and the rest was history!
Some people like to ask, when was the moment you knew that you loved your spouse? I can't pinpoint a single moment. I think that it was just everything. I hated being away from him when we were apart, and I loved being with him when we were together. Almost 4 years later, and I can still say the same thing! He is just an amazing man!

Well, we finally got engaged in December of 2007, and we were married on May 24th 2008. Since then, we have both graduated and moved from Rexburg. Matt just started Chiropractic school, and I am searching for a great job.
So, that is a short version of our fairy tale thus far!
